What it is

Understanding acupuncture.

Acupuncture is a centuries-old practice from traditional Chinese medicine. It involves inserting very thin, sterilized stainless steel needles at specific points along the body's energy pathways, where they are designed to stimulate your body's natural healing processes.

During a session, needles are placed at various depths, targeting muscles and tendons, to support the flow of energy, or Qi, and promote balance.

Most people experience little to no discomfort. Many describe the sensation as a mild tingling, warmth, or gentle pressure rather than pain.

What it helps with

A holistic, drug-free option.

Acupuncture takes a holistic approach, addressing both physical and emotional well-being without relying on pain medication. It is commonly used to help manage:

  • Musculoskeletal pain, such as sciatica, frozen shoulder, and osteoarthritis
  • Headaches
  • Arthritis
  • Stress, anxiety, and sleep concerns
  • Discomfort that affects movement and overall well-being
  • Support alongside chiropractic care or physical therapy

Acupuncture can also support people through different stages of life, including pregnancy. Your provider will recommend treatment based on your symptoms and health goals.
